As a tenant of Falmouth Wharves I was invited to join a group exhibition set up to document the history of this last remaining wharf in the harbour. prior to its demise at the greedy hands of the developer.
A mass of rubbish was cleared to create a space for this exhibition. My kinetic installation was created entirely from the debris that had accumulated during the final years of activity there; shells from the scallop factory, offcuts from the boat builders, drums, sump oil, pipes...
As the last major import here was fuel, I chose to use oil to illustrate a dwindling, dying resource; here at the wharf and also in the world around us.
A wheel driven by oil, barely moving as the shells, like open hands receive and let go the last few drops.
